2022 CBC Project Team Awards

Healthcare (Small)

First Place

Connecticut Children's Infusion Center and Gastrointestinal Clinic

Farmington, CT

The Infusion Center serves children who need intravenous treatments multiple times a week for months or potentially years. The design evokes the feeling of exploration as you enter under a tree canopy. This motif is extended into the ‘tent’ and ‘camper’ treatment rooms. With a color-changing base and curved screens the towering tree is the focal point of the virtual worldwhere pati ents create an avatar and explore. The project was awarded one week before its start date and many items had lead times that would delaythe schedule. The team found alternatives to perserve the design and 17-week schedule.
