2022 CBC Project Team Awards Civic (Large) First Place

The Boys & Girls Club of Hartford (B&GC) Hartford South End opened in September 2021 and is the culmination of a high degree of collaboration and problem-solving between the City of Hartford, Hartford Public Schools, the B&GC and the entire design and construction team. With no other after-school facilities for children in this part of the city, the project filled a need for new facility that could bring education and recreational support services to 1,500 youth in a much-needed safe and nurturing environment. Due largely to the relentless teamwork among all the project team members, the $21-million, 32,000-SF facility opened within schedule and budget parameters despite encountering numerous challenges along the way.
