HARTFORD, CT - The Connecticut Building Congress rode into Spring Tuesday night with an open top bus tour of Hartford's architecture. The program highlighted the significance of historic preservation for the industry and it culminated with a discussion at Hartford's historic Union Station.

This second edition of the Guidelines incorporates the significant changes in technology, speed, and delivery methods that the industry has seen in the decade since the publication of the first edition.

CBC HOSTS EVENT ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY

HAMDEN, CT – Members of the Connecticut Building Congress gathered last night to discuss the changes to the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code from the 2009 code. Connecticut state statute requires the adoption of the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) as early as 2013. The changes call for 26 percent more energy efficiency than the current 2009 code.

HAMDEN – The Connecticut Building Congress will host a program on asset management on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at The Cascade in Hamden, CT. Owners face challenges when evaluating whether to build new or to renovate existing structures. The management of these assets requires a comprehensive evaluation from different perspectives – real estate, construction, and design. This program provides an interactive forum to discuss the factors that an owner should consider when deciding to build new or renovate.

FARMINGTON – The Connecticut Building Congress hosted Courtney Hendricson (Town of Farmington, Director of Economic Development) and Tom Trutter (University of Connecticut Health Center, Associate Vice President, Facilities Development & Operations) at the UConn Health Center Cell & Genome building Tuesday night. Ms. Hendricson focused on Farmington’s development efforts and the benefits to the community from the expansion and renovation plans for the UConn Health Center. Mr. Trutter provided a deeper insight into the plans for the Health Center.
